How to Communicate when Canvas is Down

Send an email to all your students from PeopleSoft.

  1. Go to One.SJSU and select the MySJSU sign in link.
  2. Enter your SJSU ID and password.
  3. Ensure your correct term is selected. 
  4. Select the class you want to view by selecting the class roster icon. The class roster icon is represented by a drawing of three people.
  5. At the bottom of the screen, select Notify All Students.
  6. A new window will appear and you can edit the subject and message text. 
  7. Finally, select Send Notification. 

Students will recieve an email in their preferred email inbox. For most students it will be their SJSU email. Instructors will also receive a copy of the email in their SJSU email inbox.

How to Communicate with Students Using Canvas

In emergencies it is particularly important to communicate clearly, consistently, and in a concise manner. Canvas, the Learning Management System (LMS) that SJSU uses, allows instructors to communicate effectively with their students.
